Step 1: Prepare the Vegetables

The blog starts with the preparation of vegetables. A grater is used to grate carrot. Along with carrot, pumpkin cabbage is used. Yes, you heard it right! Pumpkin cabbage adds a nice crunch and softness to the momos. vegetables are important for the momos

Now take one onion and chop it finely using a chopper. This step saves your time and makes your work easier. and it is simple steps that you can do in any where

Add all the chopped veggies to a big mixing bowl:

  • Grated cabbage it is important for the momos
  • Grated carrot it get better test for the momos
  • Chopped onion it is main sour of the momos
  • A little bit of this is also important spring onion

You can customize the veggies. If you like, you can add capsicum, corn, or even paneer.

Step 2: Add Salt and Remove Moisture .

Now add 1 teaspoon salt to the veggie mixture. Salt will help release the water from the vegetables. Mix everything well and let it sit for a few minutes. mix it properly

Then take a muslin cloth and transfer all the vegetables into it. This cloth will help you remove the extra water. Squeeze the cloth tightly and remove all the moisture from the vegetables.

Important Tip:
Don’t throw away the vegetable water. It’s full of aroma and flavor. Instead of using it for dough (which may change the color of the dough), use this water in the steamer while steaming the momos. It gives a nice vegetable aroma to the momos..

Step 3: Make the Dough

Take 1.5 cups of flour (maida) in a big bowl. Add:

  • ½ teaspoon of salt as you need you can add
  • 1 teaspoon of oil as you need you can add

Mix everything well and knead the dough using plain water. The dough should be tight, not soft. If it is too soft, it becomes difficult to shape the momos. Tight dough helps you seal the momos properly and gives them a clean shape

Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rest for 15–20 minutes.

Step 4: Cook the Stuffing

Heat oil in a pan. Add:

  • Grated ginger
  • Grated garlic
  • Chopped green chillies

Sauté for 1–1.5 minutes until the raw smell goes away.

Now add the squeezed vegetables to the pan. Stir-fry for 1 minute. Then add:

  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of black pepper powder

That’s it. No need to add extra masala or spices. The momo chutney will be spicy and flavorful, so the stuffing inside should be light and fresh.

Let the mixture cool down.

Step 5: Roll the Dough and Cut Small Circles

Now take the dough and divide it into 2–3 parts. Roll one part into a thin sheet.

Use a glass to cut small round circles — just like mini puris.

Pro Tip: After cutting, roll each circle once more. This step is important because the dough tends to shrink. Rolling it again will make the sheet thinner and easier to fold.

Step 6: Fill and Shape the Baby Momos

Now place the stuffing in the center of each circle. You can make any shape you want — half-moon, pleated, or round.

In the video, the chef shows a pleated design. Use your thumb to press the stuffing down and then pinch the edges to create small pleats. Join all the ends at the center.

Your baby momos are now ready to be steamed.

They look small, cute, and tempting!

Step 7: Steam the Momos

Take a steamer. Add water to the bottom section. Use the veggie water collected earlier. This water gives a lovely aroma while steaming.

Once the water starts boiling, place the momos in the upper tray. Keep some distance between each momo.

Steam them for 10–12 minutes on medium flame.

You will see the dough becomes soft and shiny.
